Short: v2.9/GUI - NTP clock syncroniser/AutoDST
Uploader: unsatisfactory@bigfoot.com (Chris Young)
Author: unsatisfactory@bigfoot.com (Chris Young)
Type: comm/tcp
Version: 2.9
Requires: Kickstart 2.0+, ARexx (included with WB2.04+)
FACTS: A GUI-based sntp (network time) client for the Amiga
-----------------------------------------------------------
» This is a bug-fix update only; v2.8 had several AutoDST-related problems.
*** NOW FULLY LOCALISED IF LOCALE.LIBRARY IS INSTALLED ***
This program will let you log on to any NTP server, retrieve the current
time and syncronise your Amiga's clock with it. Supports sntp, time and
daytime protocols on any port number with potential accuracy of up to 20ms.
Lots of features!
FACTS2 supports all TCP/IP stacks which implement bsdsocket.library v4.
(eg. AmiTCP, Miami, TermiteTCP)
It does *not* use the virtual TCP: device.
Version 2 is designed to run in the background and adjust your system time
when requested by you or an ARexx script, although it can still run as a CLI
command in an identical way to v1.1
You do not need an Internet connection for this program to be useful!
FACTS2 has an "AutoDST" feature, which will automatically adjust your clock
and the TZ env-var to reflect the time shift.
In addition, any alterations to TZ will make FACTS adjust your system time
accordingly (can be disabled). Built-in SummerTimeGuard emulation enables
YAM2 to automatically adjust for DST.
Changes since previous release:
* Fixed the AutoDST switching out of DST early bug (switched out on 1st
October, although switching the other way had no problems)
* Fixed the AutoDST Southern Hemisphere bug (was incorrectly being treated
same as the North)
* Fixed the AutoDST "checking while running" feature
* Fixed the garbage gadgets in a couple of requesters
